Pete Ronald Vinzetta
Pete Ronald Vinzetta, 75, of Arrowhead Estates, died early Monday morning, September 30 2019, after a lengthy battle against Lou Gehrig's Disease.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Paula, of 32 years, and five children, Brent Vinzetta, of San Antonio Texas, Amy Vinzetta, of Longtown, Brian Menasco, of McAlester, Chance Menasco, of Dora, and Brandon Menasco, of Arrowhead Estates. Three of his five children were adopted. Nieces and nephews include Jeff Phillips, Steve Phillips, Scott McCracken, Melinda Lauffenburger, Carol Moberly, Larry Ryan and Terry Ryan.
He was born on June 15, 1944, in McAlester, to Pete and Mary Jane Vinzetta. He was the youngest, and last living sibling of four, along with sisters, Margaret, Virginia and Nancy. He was a 1962 graduate of Haileyville High School, and a 1967 graduate of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
He spent the first few years of his bookkeeping career in Dallas, Texas, but the vast majority of his accounting career in his beloved backyard of Pittsburg County.
He married Paula Powell on December 26, 1986, in Haileyville. They resided in Wilburton for many years before moving to Arrowhead Estates in 2013.
His office in Haileyville, Vinzetta, Business Service, was a staple of the local community. His secretary, Janelle McCullar O'Kelley served faithfully by his side for 38 years. He served the community of Hartshorne as town mayor in the early 1980s.
He was an exceptional high school athlete having thrown a perfect game during his years playing American Legion. He also spent several years coaching little league baseball in Hartshorne. He was a lifelong avid fan of Oklahoma State Cowboy athletics. He often told stories of watching the legendary Barry Sanders play football. His passion for golf, though, was his greatest sports love of all.
A morning mass will be offered to family and friends on Thursday, October 3, at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hartshorne. A memorial lunch will follow at the church Parish Hall at 12:30 p.m. Flower arrangements can be sent to Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home.
