Patricia Jean Wilson
Patricia Jean Wilson, a longtime member of the Grants Pass community, in Oregon, went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2019, in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, at the age of 92.
"Pat" was born Patricia Jean Burks on March 3, 1927, in McAlester, to Ed and Aileen Burks. She enjoyed an active youth, loving being with her friends, being a drum majorette, a Rainbow girl and a participant in student government. She graduated from McAlester High School in 1944 and went on to attend the University of Oklahoma before returning home to McAlester to work at a local bank.
Pat met Jim Wilson, of Okemah, and they married on September 2, 1947, at First Presbyterian Church in McAlester. Jim's involvement in the radio and television business took them from McAlester to Tulsa, Enid and Chickasha, Lubbock, Texas, Hays, Kansas, and Klamath Falls, Oregon. Jim and Pat made their final move, forever, in the summer of 1957 to establish and own KAJO radio in Grants Pass.
Pat was very involved in the Grants Pass community. She was an active member of PEO Chapter EH, and was active in Christian Women's Club and other Bible Study Groups in the area.
Jim and Pat were charter members of Grace Bible Church where they spent countless hours teaching the Word of God to members of the community
Jim and Pat had three children, Carl Wilson and Malinda, of Grants Pass,Oregon, Matt Wilson, of Vancouver, Washington, and Sarah Williams and Scott, of Denver, Colorado. Pat has seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
After Jim's passing in 2005, Pat left Grants Pass to live with her daughter, Sarah. She had some of the best years of her life living in North Dakota, Georgia and Colorado. She made wonderful friends wherever she went.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Aileen Burks, of McAlester; husband, Jim, of Grants Pass, and brother, John Burks, of McAlester. Her brother, Ted Burks, resides in Dallas, Texas.
A family graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 23, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass, Oregon.
