Maxine  Jurgensen
Maxine (Cathey) Hoklotubbe-Jurgensen, 92, of McAlester, died in McAlester on Sunday, October 13, 2019.
Viewing will be on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by the Rev. Kenny Morrow and the Rev. Steve Mayhew. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joey Morrow, Tucker Morrow, Daniel Hoklotubbe, DeWayne Durant and Kevin Durant.
Maxine was born to Edwin and Josie (Walden) Cathey on September 4, 1927, in Indianola. She attended Indianola School.
She married Edwin Hoklotubbe on July 18, 1942, in McAlester, and he preceded her in death in 1983. She worked as a nanny for several years and was a mother to many.
Maxine volunteered for many organizations including cooking at the Wilburton Senior Citizens Center. She had resided in Wilburton, Hartshorne and McAlester.
She married Thomas Leroy Jurgensen in 1985, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Maxine was a member of McAlester First Free Will Baptist Church. She loved to cook, attend church and have guests and visitors in her home.
Survivors include son, Edwin Hoklotubbe Jr., of California, and Eddie Hoklotubbe, of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; grandsons, Jason Hoklotubbe, Freddie Hoklotubbe and Daniel Hoklotubbie; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Thad Cathey and wife, Clare, and Glen Cathey, of Temple, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Josie Cathey; first husband, Edwin Hoklotubbe; second husband, Tom Jurgensen; son, Larry Hoklotubbe, and brothers, Dearl Cathey, Doug Cathey, Paul Cathey and Ovie Cathey.
