Linda Nell (Horton) Shawn
Linda Nell (Horton) Shawn, born on May 18, 1958, to Willis C. and T. Opal Horton, passed peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2019.
Linda was full of life with a laugh that was unique and infectious. She was nostalgic, kind and always there to help those in need. Family was most important to Linda and more than anything, she loved spending time with those dearest to her. Outside of her family, Linda was passionate about fishing, fried okra and Bob Seger.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sister, Sharon (Horton) Dobbs, and her brother, Bobby Horton.
Linda is survived by her sons, Lynn and Chris, along with their wives and children; her brothers, Leroy, Chuck and Glen; her sisters, Ravenna, Virginia, Melva, Brenda and Debbie, and a stadium full of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends, all of whom loved her dearly and will miss her presence in this world.
There will be a memorial service at North A Street Church of Christ in McAlester, on January 25 at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in honor of Linda Shawn to the American Cancer Society.

My sweet Bug. I can't begin to express how much I love and miss you. My days will be so much lonelier without you here. We've laughed, we've cried, made and shared secrets, and made so many memories that will keep me company till I see you again. Until then I'll just say later.....

My earliest memory of Linda was when I was first introduced to the Horton family. Linda, Brenda and Debbie were arguing about boyfriends. Sibling rivalry. It was fun to watch. Linda was the sweet girl. Always low key. I am sad that she left so soon.

Linda was not only my sister in law; she was a very special friend. My heart grieves because she is gone but also rejoices that’s she is in Jesus’ arms. Rip my dear Linda.

Linda was an amazing person. I only had the priviledge of only knowing her for 14 years. I thank the good Lord he allowed me that time to know her. Some of our best times were fishing together and teaching each other new tricks with catching some fish and laughing alot! She will be missed by my whole family, we all just fell in love with her. Rest in peace sweet Lady ❤❤❤ When we meet again, we will go fishing and have a bunch of laughs.

Praying for peace & comfort for this wonderful family. Linda's beautiful Mom babysat my children (Cindy, Ricky & Tony) years ago. They loved her & her house full of kids so much. Sending love to you all.

This sweet, loving, gullible woman was one of a kind. The world is a darker place without her in it. I still can’t wrap my head around this whole thing. We will honor her memory and cherish the memories and time we had with her. I’ll make sure her grand babies grow up knowing and remembering all the wonderful things about her and the mark she left on this world and on us. I pray for peace and comfort for everyone in this family. God makes no mistakes, we will see her again.
