Violet Lee Mason, 91, of the Ulan Community, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at her home on Shug Fisher Lane.
Violet was born on Christmas Eve 1925 to Emit and Susan (Brown) Fisher, in Ulan. She grew up in Ulan and was raised by her maternal grandmother, Ida Brown.
She married Jessie James Mason on July 15, 1944, in McAlester. Violet and Jessie raised their family in Tulia, Texas.
Violet returned to the family homestead in 1987 after Jessie's retirement. Violet continued working as a beautician at a local nursing home and as a stay at home wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by five of her six children, James Mason, of Tennessee, Janet Anderson and husband, Ernest, of Ulan, Ed Mason and wife, Jean, of Broken Arrow, Debra Mason, of McAlester, and Eva Latham and husband, Jim, of Scipio; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and one brother and one sister.
Violet was preceded in death in 2016 by her husband, Jessie Mason; son, Van Dale Mason; grandson, Glenn Shuping; father, Emit Fisher; mother, Susie Brown Fisher; maternal grandmother, Ida Brown; brother, Albert Fisher, and eight other brothers and sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Ulan Cemetery Pavilion. Interment will follow.
