Valerie A. Warren-Fernandez, 58, of San Dimas, California, died on Dec. 7, 2016, at her home.
An open memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 1, at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Haywood. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Valerie was born on Sept. 19, 1958, in San Dimas, California, to William F. and Alice O. (Robinson) Holloway. She grew up there and graduated from Glendora High School in 1976.
She moved to McAlester in 1987, where she met her first husband, Robert J. Warren, and they were married in December 1991. They had one daughter, Lindsay, and in 1995, they adopted five children, Levi, Ruby, David, Allison and Kendra.
Valerie was a phlebotomist for many years before becoming a licensed vocational nurse in 2000. In 2001, her first husband died and Valerie returned to California. In 2002, she went to work for Fontana Unified School District as a special needs LVN, which she loved doing very much.
She married Rick A. Fernandez in March 2007.
Valerie is survived by her husband, Rick A. Fernandez; her children, Lindsey Byler and husband, Joseph, Levi Warren, Ruby Carrillo, David Warren and his fiance', Valerie Mota, Allison Shevlin and husband, Thomas, and Kendra Warren. Also five grandchildren, Ysabel Warren, Hunter Carrillo, Kenidee Lingenfelter, Declan Warren and Jaidyn Byler. She also has a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Ilene Holloway, and three sisters and one brother-in-law, Helen Marshall, Betty and Bruce Gallie, and Mary Holloway. Also three step-children, Corina Fernandez, Vincent Fernandez and Timothy Warren and wife, Kathleen. She has several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert J. Warren, and a brother, William M. Holloway.
