Thomas "Tom" Larsen Lordahl Sr., 89, of Hartshorne, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at his residence.
A family directed memorial service will be held at a later date.
Thomas was born to Reidar "Richard" and Randi (Corneliusen) Lordahl on Aug. 19, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York.
He served as a Merchant Marine and then became a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
He settled in the small town of Hartshorne, in which he helped to start a business called OAI and was the vice-president. Afterwards, he became active in city management and served two terms as mayor for Hartshorne.
Tom is survived by his sons, Tommy Lordahl Jr., of Hartshorne, and Kevin Lordahl and wife, Brenda, of McAlester; beloved daughter and caregiver, Kathy Dobbs, of Hartshorne; grandchildren, Nikki Gaylor and husband, Chris, of Hartshorne, Ashley Dixon and husband, Buzzy, of Bache, Ryan Lordahl, of Hartshorne, Justen Dobbs, of Hartshorne, and Katrina Dobbs and Roger Holt, of Hartshorne; eight great-grandchildren, one being his special friend and caregiver, Jarrod Lordahl, of the home, Chad Gaylor, Mason Gaylor, John Dixon, Lainey Lordahl, Zane Lordahl, and Raelynn Holt, and a brother, Richard "Dick" Lordahl and wife, Susan, of California.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Betty Lou Lordahl, on Sept, 21, 2017, only nine days before his death; parents, Richard and Randi Lordahl, and a son-in-law, Jerry Lynn Dobbs.
Cremation arrangements entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory of McAlester.
