Samuel Rex Goode, 101, of McAlester, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, in McAlester.
Rex was one of seven children and he was born on Feb. 27, 1915, to Samuel Finis and Ida Alice (Battles) Goode. Rex would have been 102 in 2017. He lived a long and full life and Pittsburg County was his home.
He married Cliffie O'Daniel on Dec. 27, 1935, and she preceded him in death in 1996. They had one son, Darrell.
Rex worked for the United States Naval Ammunition Depot. When World War II ended he began doing carpentry work and later became head of maintenance at the McAlester hospital.
Rex married Marian Davis in 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Goode, of McAlester, and her three daughters and families; son, Darrell and wife, Stephane, of Tulsa; three great-grandchildren, and other family members and friends.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Ida Goode; his first wife, Cliffie (O'Daniel) Goode; his six siblings, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Goode.
A graveside funeral service will be at 2 p.m., today at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery in McAlester.
