Ruby Lee Campbell, 86, of McAlester, died Thursday, June 29, 2017, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
Ruby was born on Sept. 2, 1930, at home in Blanco County, Texas, to Levi Mark Givens and Willie Mae (Brock) Givens.
She married Ira Campbell in 1949 in Port Neches, Texas.
Ruby attended Lamar Technological School in Beaumont, Texas, and received her Licensed Practical Nurse in 1962.
The family moved to McAlester from McLewis, Texas, following a work transfer for Ira. Ruby continued working as an LPN at local nursing homes until she completely retired in 1990.
Ruby was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching college and pro ball.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Sue Fields, of the home; brother, Ira Lee Campbell and wife, Shirley, of Hazlehurst, Georgia; grandchildren, Derek Bridge and wife, Carlie, of Williston, North Dakota, and Billy King, of Hazlehurst, Georgia; great-grandchild, Samantha Bridge and Kaleb Alford, of Krebs; great-great-grandchild, Luca Alford, of Krebs; niece, Carolyn Switzer and husband, Bernie, of Pasadena, Texas, and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Levi Givens; mother, Willie Quinn, and, husband, Ira Campbell, in 1997.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 3, at White Chimney Cemetery near Stuart with the Rev. Tommy Brannon officiating. Burial will follow.
