On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, the world lost the man people told stories about. The hero in the book that despite all odds wins the day with strength and perseverance. This day the work lost a husband, father and dear friend.
Roy Dodd was born on January 31, 1963, to Wanell and Jahue Dodd. He loved the outdoors and was taught by the best, Jahue taught him the ways of the woods and water. He excelled in basketball at Panola High School. He loved to talk about the good ol' days when he dominated the court. He went to Eastern Oklahoma State College and soon met a young lady he pledged his life to. He married Sarah Jane Ball on July 7, 1985. After a couple of years the first son was born, Kaleb Dodd. Two years later they welcomed a second son, Kyle Dodd. From this point on he dedicated his life to his family. He never missed a game or event. Through the years he many ailments. He had surgeries and diseases that a normal person would let become a crutch. This man however never complained, faultered, or let it slow him down. He fished tournaments and won many trophies to prove it. He never gave up no matter the odds. When he finally lost the ability to be mobile he still held the resolve to fight. The Lord finally called him home where he resides waiting for the rest of the family.
Roy is survived by his spouse; Sarah Jane Dodd. Children; Kaleb Jahue Dodd and Kyle Roy Dodd and spouse, Taylor. Parents; Jahue and Reba Wanell Dodd. Brother; Bryan Dodd. Brother-in-law; Todd Ball and spouse, Ann. Sister-in-law; Nancy Giles and spouse, Brian. Mother and father-in-law Tommy and Kaylen Ball. Grandchild; Skylynne Dodd. Four nephews and four nieces with numerous other great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by; Grandparents, Edith and Roy Dodd and Leroy and Robie Kinsworthy.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017, at the Faith Fellowship Church located at 803 E. Electric Ave. in McAlester, Oklahoma. Pastor Art Dodd will be the officiant. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
