Roseann Helen Thornton, 86, of, Bache, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at her home near Bache.
Graveside services were Monday, Feb. 6, at Blanco Cemetery with Father Bruce Brosnahan officiating. Burial was at Blanco Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
Roseann Helen Thornton was born on Nov. 28, 1930, in Hartshorne, to Stanley and Agnes (Shamasko) Kubiski. She grew up there and graduated from Haileyville High School in 1949.
Soon after graduating, she married Albert Terry Thornton on July 21, 1949, in Hartshorne. They moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico and lived there for the next 15 years.
They moved back to the old family home place in 1964 and have enjoyed living the ranch life since then. Mrs. Thornton also enjoyed fishing in the ponds and gardening, and especially enjoyed having her grandchildren around as much as possible.
She was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hartshorne.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Terry Thornton, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Lawrence Collins, of Bache; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Sharon Thornton, of Bache; grandchildren, Albert Thornton and wife, Erin, Sarah Nave and husband, Brian, Bradley Collins, and Stephanie Bailey and husband, Kris; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Beshear, Brant Nave, Toby Nave, Hadlie Thornton, and Brady Thornton; step-great-grandchildren, Brady and Aubrey Bailey; brother-in-law, Kenneth Thornton, and cousin, Ronnie Kubiski.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Stanley Don Thornton; a granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Collins; two special aunts, Jenny Kubiski and Helen Shamasco, and her step-father, Joe Salon.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
