Reita Mae Amason, 84, of Kiowa, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017.
Memorial services are going to be Saturday, March 4, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Kiowa.
Reita was born on June 15, 1932, in Atoka, to Harold Alvin and Healion Louginia Baker Toaz. She attended schools at Limestone Gap, where she graduated high school. Reita attended schools at the University of Oklahoma, where she played basketball for the school and she attended Southeastern Oklahoma State College in Durant.
She worked at Hartshorne grade schools as a secretary for several years and then worked at Eastern Oklahoma State College for several years for the agriculture department.
She was a member of the Kiowa First Baptist Church.
Reita enjoyed raising her horses and teaching her girls barrel racing and she took them all over the United States.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Elecca and David Cassell, of Gerty, Renee Amason, of Ashland, and Reijan Pickens, of Kiowa; one son and daughter-in-law, Warren Keith and Cathy Amason, of Kiowa; five grandchldren, Ramon Dry, Healion Amason, Daniel Amason, Jake Cassell and Isom Pickens; 12 great-grandchildren, and two cousins, Carl Filskow and Rilla McCormick.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
