Norma Mae Crews, 83, of McAlester, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, in McAlester.
The family will receive friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester on Thursday, Aug. 31, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Northtown Cemetery.
Norma Crews was born on June 12, 1934, in Grants, New Mexico, to her parents, Louis and Theresa (Martinez) Saavedra. She was raised and educated in Grants, graduating from Grants High School in 1942.
She married Don Crews in Grants on Aug. 3, 1957, and the family came to McAlester in 1963.
She was a housewife and, after her children entered school, she became employed by McAlester Public Schools in the foodservice department. She retired from MPS in 1996.
Norma enjoyed her family, going to ballgames and cheering on the teams, watching NASCAR, and going to the casino.
She is survived by her children, Donna Crews, of McAlester, Tim Crews and wife, Janice, of McAlester, and Michelle Lowe and husband, Mike, of Jones. One brother, Pat Saavedra, of Milan, New Mexico. Grandchildren, LaTasha Anderson and fiancé, Verdis Owen, Erica Anderson, Whitney Anderson, Megan Lowe, Michael Lowe, Jenifer Bowen and husband, Eli, and Amanda Roden and husband, Chuck. Great-grandchildren, Haidyn Bowen and Kaylee Bowen, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Crews, in 2007. Two brothers, Gilbert and Monico Saavedra. Two sisters, Lydia Dominquez and Vina Blea.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Massey, Roy Engleman, Mark Smith, Dean Pace, Eric Anderson and Verdis Owen.
