Margaret Carney, 88, of McAlester, died Monday, June 19, 2017, at her home in McAlester.
Her family will receive friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 22, at 2 p.m. at the Carney Family Cemetery on west Chambers Road, with Pastor Gary Weeden officiating.
Margaret Carney was born on July 16, 1928, in Blanco, to James and Ella (Jones) Daily. She grew up in the Blanco area and had lived there and McAlester all her life.
Margaret married Levison "Lee" Carney on May 26, 1950, in Wilburton. Margaret has worked as a cook for many years, starting at Brad's Carriage House Restaurant until it closed, then at the bus station café, and finally in the kitchen at Komar's.
Margaret's hobbies included singing and quilting, but her favorite times were spending time with her kids and grandkids at family gatherings.
Margaret was a member of the Hilltop Fellowship Church.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Paul and Rosie Carney, of Hartshorne, and Lonnie Carney, of McAlester; a daughter, Lucy Loudermilk, of McAlester; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Daily, of McAlester; a daughter-in-law, Paula Carney, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Billy Ray Carney; a step-son, the Rev. Raymond Carney; two sisters, Josephine Carney and Laura Daily, and four brothers, the Rev. Gilbert Frazier, the Rev. Edmond Frazier, Leroy Daily and James Daily.
