Lula Mae (Ford) Irvin, 84, of McAlester, died Sunday, June 11, 2017, in McAlester.
Lula was born to Ted and Josephine (Grammer) Ford in Heavener. Lula was raised in LeFlore County and she attended the Wheelock Academy in Millerton in McCurtain County.
Lula married Pete Irvin on May 29, 1967, in Stigler. She worked as a nurse for Dr. MacCauley and Dr. Pentecost in McAlester.
She was a homemaker for many years and enjoyed fishing and cooking. She took care of grandkids during summers.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Pete, of the home; daughters, Gloria McClish and husband, Jim, of Oologah, and Frances Eldridge and husband, Charley, of Indianola; sons, Mike White and wife, Linda, of McAlester, and Ray Irvin and wife, Grace, of Seguin, Texas; brother, Kenneth Payne and wife, Augusteen, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.
Lula was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Josephine Ford; daughters, Jackie Jones and Helen White, and a grandson, Jimmy Lee Wright.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Fred Morrison. Inurnment will be at Indianola Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory of McAlester.
