Luann Jill Wooley Simpson, 56, died Friday, March 24, 2017, at her residence in Stuart.
Luann was born to Jack and Rose Marie (Reinhart) Wooley on March 31, 1960, in Fontana, California. She was raised in southern California. Luann graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Granada Hills, California, in 1978. She graduated from Casa Loma Nursing College in 1981 and became a LVN.
She married Barry Keeling in 1985 and they started a family, they had one daughter and three sons. In 1991 she lost her daughter to cancer and she never fully recovered from this loss. After a move to Boulder City, Nevada, she went to school at University of Nevada Las Vegas and became a medical paralegal.
In 2011, she moved to Stuart. She married Raymond Simpson and lived at her favorite place on earth, Wooley Hill. Their fond nickname for their retreat was "Simp-ley heaven". It was there that she pursued her passion as an artist. She created beautiful pieces by refurbishing items from days gone by. She pampered flowers, bulbs, and vegetables and created beautiful gardens. Her home became the story of how families came together in Stuart with pictures and objects from the past.
Luann is survived by her husband, Ray, of the home; sons, Alex Keeling and Noah Keeling, of Henderson, Nevada, and Nick Keeling, of Austin, Texas; her father and step-mother, Jack and Sophia Wooley, of Boulder City, Nevada; sister, Marina Todd and husband, Aaron, of Stuart, and numerous other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Rose, and her mother, Rose Marie Reinhart Wooley.
Per her request, we plan no formal service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory of McAlester.
