Loyd Heaslet, 88, died Saturday morning, July 22, 2017, at his home.
Loyd was born on Jan. 11, 1929, in Depew, to Roy David and Lottie Malone Heaslet. He attended school in Indianola.
He married Colleen Dassler on July 6, 1949, in McAlester. Loyd worked for Crowder Schools for some 30 years as a janitor and as a bus driver.
He enjoyed spending time fishing, camping and being around his family.
He attended Krebs First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen Heaslet, of the home; five sons and spouses, Bill Heaslet and wife, Jonnie, Jim Heaslet and wife, Linda, George Heaslet and Karen, Luke Heaslet and wife, Terri, John Heaslet and wife, Christie, all of the McAlester area; two daughters and spouse, Margaret Heaslet, of Ada, and Teresa and husband, Randy, of Eufaula; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Heaslet, of Henryetta, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Heaslet, and a grandson, Cody Leeper.
Graveside services will be today at 10 a.m. at Crowder Cemetery Pavilion with burial in Crowder Cemetery. The Rev. Ronnie Drake will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jim Heaslet, George Heaslet, John Heaslet, Luke Heaslet, John Heaslet and Randy Leeper.
