Dr. Cibula passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017, at his home in Muskogee. He was surrounded by family as he slipped peacefully into the arms of his Savior.

After spending his freshman year in college at Marquette University, he transferred to Notre Dame University, from which he graduated in 1964 with his Bachelor's Degree. This was followed by medical school at The Ohio State University in Columbus -- completed in 1968 -- and a medical internship at Mt. Carmel Hospital, also in Columbus. In 1969, he joined the U. S. Navy and began his residency in General Radiology at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego. In 1970, Dr. Cibula began flight surgeon training in Pensacola, Florida, and served as a navy flight surgeon during the Vietnam War and for the Blue Angels. After two additional residencies at the U. S. Naval Hospital in San Diego, the second of which was in Therapeutic Radiology, in 1978, he completed a mentorship in Interstitial Implant Therapy, the field in which he would make his career.
