Jerry Bill Whitlow, 69, of McAlester, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born in San Mateo, California, to Willis (Bill) Floyd Whitlow and Dorothy Mae Harvey Whitlow. Jerry was raised on his family farm just outside of McAlester until he moved to California. While out in California, he met and married Betty Ann Beviacqua. They had their son and lived in California until they moved back to the McAlester area in 1981, where they had their daughter and lived the remainder of his life.
Jerry worked 22 years as a truck driver for Beaver Express. During that time he was awarded two plaques for driving over two million miles without any accidents or tickets.
He loved to build engines, talk about cars, drive his dragster in the sand down by Atoka Motor Sports Park, spending time on the water driving his boats, fishing, spending time with his friends and family and making people laugh.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Bill Floyd Whitlow, and mother, Dorothy Mae Harvey.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty Whitlow, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Stephanie Whitlow, of Justin, Texas; daughter, Sherry Whitlow, of McAlester; granddaughter and grandson, Maggie and Warren Hall; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and George Logan, of Rock Falls, Illinois; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Anita Whitlow, of McAlester, Doug Whitlow, of Alderson, J.C. and Elaine Harris, of McAlester, and Jeff Harris, of McAlester; special friends, Buddy and Sheri Hendricks; his loving dogs, Abby and Sissy, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
At Jerry's request, there will not be a funeral at this time but there will be a Celebration of his Life at a later date.
