Jay Kurt Hornbuckle, 79, died in his sleep on Tuesday, Dec 20, 2016, of cardiac arrest from diabetes complications.
He resided the last few years in West Point, Mississippi, with long time partner, Kay M. Kincade, but grew up in McAlester. He had a distinguished military career in the United States Army and retired as a major.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Hornbuckle, and a sister, his only sibling, Kay French (Hornbuckle) Walsh.
Jay had no children.
Survivors include three nephews, Kurt Godfrey, of Bronx, New York, Peter (Gary) Godfrey, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Patrick Walsh, of Appomattox, Virginia.
His ashes will be buried at a later date in his parents' plot at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester. Arrangements are under the direction of Robinson Funeral Home of West Point, Mississippi.
