Gerald (Gerry) Keith Voyles, 68, of McAlester, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, after a long battle with heart disease and Post-Polio Syndrome.
Gerry was born on Oct. 19, 1948, in Oklahoma City. He loved to fish, be on the lake, and fish some more. He enjoyed taking his family camping and being able to share time together...and of course do more fishing.
He was passionate about history and was so pleased about taking his grandchildren on trips to see our great country and learn about our rich history.
For a number of years, Gerry could be found at Lakewood Christian Church on Wednesday nights cooking and serving kids and adults of all ages.
Gerry is survived by his loving wife, Paula. They were married for 48 years and shared a love that family and friends alike admired.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Geneva Voyles; his daughter, Angela Voyles; his brother, Ray Voyles; brothers-in-law, Joey and Jay Sinor, and a grandson, Joshua Voyles.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie and her husband, Craig Smith. Grandchildren, Alexandria Voyles, Kylie Smith, Deborah Voyles, Lucy Voyles, Grayson Smith and Colton Smith, and a great-granddaughter, Gracey Blanco. In addition, brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sandy Sinor; sister-in-law, Jeannie Sinor, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lakewood Christian Church in McAlester on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lakewood Christian Church in Gerry's name.
