Fred Alan Rice, 69, of McAlester, died Sunday, June 18, 2017, at his home.
Fred was born to Fred and Frances Albertine (Staley) Rice on Jan. 9, 1948, in Durant. Fred attended McAlester High School and graduated from Eastern Oklahoma State College.
He served in the United States Army Reserve as a drill instructor.
Fred worked for the military as a quality assurance specialist for 34 years; traveling the world in this capacity and retiring from the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.
Fred built sprint cars and enjoyed motorcycle racing. He liked it fast and loud. He was also an avid gun collector and fisherman.
Fred is survived by his, sister, Jean Marsee and husband, Marvin, of Noble; brothers, Howard Rice, of Arizona, Terry Rice, of Tulsa, and Jim Rice and wife, Beth, of McAlester; nieces and nephews, Randy Marsee, Stacy Marsee, Bob Rice, Sally Thrasher, Samuel Rice, Benjamin Rice and William Rice, Jason Rice, and Julie Rice, and several great-nieces, great-nephews and other family members and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Frances Rice.
A private memorial service will be held. Cremation arrangement are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory of McAlester.
