Elouise's Story

Elouise Lucille Effinger-Clunn, 81, of Indianola, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at a local nursing center in McAlester.
Lucille was born to Rueben and Grace (Thrasher) McKee on July 21, 1935, in Eufaula. She graduated from McAlester High School. Lucille married Clayton Effinger on May 10, 1952. She worked as a seamstress for Elsings and then as a nurses aid and a certified medication aid at Blevins Retirement Center until retiring in 1992. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Lucille was a member of Choate Prairie Baptist Church.
Lucille is survived by sons, Bart Effinger and wife, Sherrie, of Crowder, and Bret Effinger and wife, Lisa, of Ulan; daughters, Kay McKee, of McAlester, Susie Sager and husband, David, of Crowder, Janet Brown and husband, Don, of McAlester, and Gina King and husband, Doyle, of McAlester; grandchildren, Joshua Effinger and wife, Amanda, Shiann Johnson and husband, Jake, Sara Perry and husband, David, Matt Effinger, Rodney Sheppard and wife, Stephanie, Regina Van Blaricom and husband, Dale, Rachel Jameson and husband, Body, Melissa McKibben and husband, J.L., Lisa Campbell and husband, Jason, Chad Sager, Jennifer Johnston and husband, Rusty, Dawnya Doney and husband, George, Ryan Shannon, and Blake Shannon and wife, Chalane; great-grandchildren, Bethany Effinger, Addyson Effinger, Raleigh Effinger, Sammy Johnson, Mikah Johnson, Anniston Perry, Adeline Perry, Heath Cearley, Kayla Cearley, Brandon Jameson, Shayla Tabers, Rebecca McKibben, Michael McKibben, James Leland McKibben, Lucas Campbell, Logan Campbell, Keaton Sager, Sarah Johnston, Braylee Doney, Audree Doney, and Jade Alexis Shannon; great-great-granddaughters, Lola Miller and Barbara Miller; step-brother, Ruben Nace, of California; step-sister, Ruby Kendrick, of California, and numerous other family members and friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Rueben and Grace McKee; her first husband, Clayton Effinger, in 1988; second husband, Arlis Clunn, in 2002, and sons-in-law, Jack McKee and Mike Tabers.
A family directed memorial service will be held at a later date. A special thank you to the staff of Mitchell Manor for their care of Mrs. Clunn.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
