Funeral services for Elmer Ray Lee, 70, of Buffalo, Texas have been set for 2 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo. Bro. Jack Smith, pastor of the Calvary Christian Center (Oakwood), will officiate and burial will follow in the Siloam Cemetery off of FM 1618. A visitation is set for the morning and afternoon of that same day, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Elmer Ray Lee was born February 10, 1947 in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma to Charles Robert Lee, Sr. and Johnie Snow (Johnson) Lee. He grew up in McAlester, Oklahoma, graduated from Savanna High School and, later, from Eastern Oklahoma College. He served his country in the U.S. Navy but was medically discharged after just a short time because of health issues. He had been living in Leon County for 30 years. His work was as a truck driver. He loved to work with leather and wood. Elmer was a farrier which meant he shoed horses. He was very proud of that skill.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and by a daughter, Kimberly Kay Westfall. He passed away at his residence on May 9, 2017. Surviving family members include his wife, Tina (Gore) Lee of Buffalo; son, Shawn Lee (wife, Dawn) of St. Louis, Missouri; son, Dean Durham (wife, Amanda) of Buffalo; daughter, Michelle (Lee) Reynolds (husband, John Wayne, Jr.) of Austin; brother, Charles Robert Lee, Jr. (wife, Billie Sue) of McAlester,; sister, Wanda Sue Furney (husband, Nick) of McAlester, OK; grandchildren, Jennifer Kitchens, Megan Westfall, Lillian "Lily" Reynolds, John Wayne "Jack" Reynolds, III, Billy Dean Durham, Wade Durham, Kelly Durham; great grandchildren, Aiden, Madelyn and McKenna and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers: Michelle L. Reynolds, John W. Reynolds, Jr., Charles A. Lee, Dwayne Lacoure, Tyron Scott and McKiever Easterling. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Charles R. Lee, Jr., Nick Furney, Joe Mitchell and Austin Kitchens.
