Edward Wright, 85, of McAlester, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
Graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. G.C. Gray officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Edward was born on Aug. 28, 1931, in Heavener, to Sam Houston and Ruth Viola (McMahand) Wright. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War era and married Viola Rebecca Vasquez on Oct. 30, 1953, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was a baker and worked at a number of bakeries around town.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Rose Gwin; son, Sam and Geneva Wright; daughter, Audrey Atchley, and grandsons and spouses, Rob and Autumn Gwin, Greg and Amy Wright, Anthony and Stephanie Faulconer, Jeremy Faulconer, Aaron and Jasmine Wright and Thomas Atchley. Granddaughters and spouses, Rebecca and Shawn Wilson, and Amanda Atchley and Monica Prater. Great-grandchildren, Jazmine Stover, Analisa Wilson, Grace, Emily and Jacob Gwin, Sydnee and Brynlee Wright, Dazie and Anthony Jr. Faulconer, Bella and J.J. Faulconer, Liliana Solis, Landon Thain, Kasey and Adalee Wright and Grace LeFlore. One brother, Charley Wright, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, and one sister.
