Carolyn Faye Wright, 72, of Savanna, died Monday, April 3, 2017, peacefully at home.
Carolyn was born on Aug. 26, 1944, in Bristow. Carolyn attended college for accounting. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Buckeye Gas Company at the William Center in Tulsa.
In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening (though she had a brown thumb), crocheting, jewelry making and traveling. Her travels took her to Hawaii, where she lived for many years. It was her second home that still called to her until the end. Her greatest joy, however, was her family.
She is survived by her mother, Edith Mae (Dobbs) Chitwood; children, Robert A Short and wife, Cynthia, Lisa D. McFerran, of McAlester, Jeffrey S. Short and wife, Stacey, of Alderson, and E. Clay Wright and wife, Veronica, of Alderson; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Phil Hodgeson and wife, Patty, of Savanna, and Randy Wilson and wife, Gina, of Savanna; sister, Sue Bigelow, of McAlester, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and many friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth W Chitwood; husband, William Short; son, Johnny Wayne Short, and daughter, Teia Conant.
The family will greet friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 7, at Savanna Cemetery Pavilion. Interment will follow.
Pallbearers will be Robert Short II, Adam Verdadero, Tommy McFerran Jr., Bryan Fitzgerald Short, Tommy McFerran Sr. and Clay Wright.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Phil Hodgeson, Rob Short, Jeffrey Short, Russell Bigelow and Andrew Short.
