Carl "Brian" Sager, 41, of McAlester, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at his residence.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at First Baptist Church of McAlester officiated by the Rev. David Cantrell and the Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick. Honors will be provided by the Oklahoma State Penitentiary Honor Guard Team. A private inurnment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Childrens Tumor Foundation at ctf.org.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jared McCall, John Tissington, Kevin Lott, Chuck Osborne, Charles Roden and Randy Roden.
Brian was born to Luther Frank and Debbie (Bailey) Sager on April 21, 1976, in McAlester. Brian graduated from Indianola High School in 1995 and then from Eastern Oklahoma State College.
He worked as a correctional officer at Oklahoma State Penitentiary for over 15 years and was honored with the State Department of Corrections award for Courage and Valor early on in his career.
Brian married Sarah Roden on Sept. 1, 2006, in McAlester.
Brian enjoyed hunting, shooting and fishing and had been a member of the Eufaula Rod and Gun Club.
He was a member of the McAlester First Baptist Church. Brian loved spending time with his wife and children and family.
Brian is survived by his wife, Sarah, of the home; son, Tristan Sager, of Council Hill; daughter, Jenna Sager, of the home; mother, Debbie Flowers and step- father, Randy Flowers, of Stonewall; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Debbie Roden and Randy Roden, of McAlester; brother, Tommy Sager, of Lindsey; brother-in-law, Charles Roden and wife, Amanda, of McAlester, and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Casey Sager; father, Frank Sager; paternal grandparents, Luke and Mattie Sager, and maternal grandfather, John Allen Bailey.
Arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
