Betty Barnett, 86, formerly of McAlester, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at the Village Health Care Center in Broken Arrow.
Betty was born on Jan. 10, 1930, in Caddo, to Joe and Katye Turner. She lived in McAlester over 50 years before moving to Broken Arrow to be near her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.
She worked as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in McAlester for over 30 years. After retiring from the telephone company, she worked for the Bank NA in McAlester until fully retiring.
In Broken Arrow, she was a member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church and was a regular attendee until health issues prevented her from attending. She has many friends and happy memories there.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bob Cacy, of Broken Arrow; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Sue Turner, of Wellington, Florida; two granddaughters, Christina (Kelly) Harper, of Broken Arrow, and Joanna Cacy, of Tulsa; two great-grandsons, Dusty (Georgia) Harper, and Cacy Harper, all of Broken Arrow.
She was married to Murl Barnett in 1969 until his death in 1979. From that marriage she is survived by three step-children, Murl D. (Jeanette) Barnett, of Miami, John Barnett, of McAlester, and Linda Kay Kerns. Also surviving are six step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bishop Chapel of Memories.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Harper, Dusty Harper, Cacy Harper, Mike Barnett, Jason Barnett and Larry Barnett.
