Barry Wayne Smith, 62, formerly of Wilburton, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at Sparks Medical Center.
Barry was born on Oct. 31, 1954, in McAlester, to Albert and Wanda (Hall) Smith. He graduated from Wilburton High School with the Class of 1972. Barry was a proud Wilburton Alumnus and whole-heartedly supported the Diggers, especially the football team.
His joy in life were his children and grandchildren, and even the four-legged ones, Max and Sable.
He is survived by his parents, Al and Wanda Smith; children, Taylor Smith and wife, Melissa, of Broken Arrow, Glen Smith and wife, Kaci, of McAlester, and Brynn Phillips and husband, Derek, of Owasso; daughter-in-law, Melissa Smith, of Wilburton; grandchildren, Tyler Haines, Miguel Lomeli, Madden Smith, Chloe Phillips, Jack Smith, Lainey Smith and Kendall Phillips; sisters, Sherry Tipton and husband, Brent, of Edmond, and Vicki Smith and husband, Larry, of Jones; nephew, John Tipton, of Edmond, and other family and friends.
Barry was preceded in death by his son, Cameron Smith, in 2013.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Jones-Harkins Chapel with Wesley Hilliard officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wilburton. Arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Harkins Funeral Home of Wilburton.
