Annie L. Maxwell, 94, of Kiowa, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, in McAlester.
The family will receive friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home today from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan 11, at Kiowa Church of Christ with Steve Mass officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Annie L. Maxwell was born on June 5, 1922, in Pittsburg, to Thomas and Hattie (Williams) Kinnikin. She grew up in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School.
She married James Allen Maxwell on Jan. 21, 1942, in McAlester. They moved to Kiowa in 1949 and made their home there ever since. Together they owned and operated Maxwell's Service Station in Kiowa until they retired in 1977.
Annie devoted much of her time to volunteer work. She helped at the Pittsburg County Library and the Pittsburg County Genealogy and Historical Society, as well as serving with the Pittsburg County Election Board with polling in Kiowa. She was also active, for many years, with the Pittsburg County Home Extension Service.
In her spare time, she enjoyed all kinds of crafts, such as crocheting and ceramics. But her true joy came in spending time babysitting her grandchildren.
Annie was a longtime devoted member of Kiowa Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Joetta A. and Jim King, of Denton, Texas, and Janie M. and Jack Morrison, of Norman; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenny J. and Mandy Maxwell, of Stuart, and Larry A. Maxwell, of Kiowa; grandchildren, Brian King, Daryl King and wife, Vickie, Lisa Gonzales and husband, Jeff, Lindsey Maxwell, Kindsey Maxwell, Kylie Parker, Holly Baker and husband, Tandy, Randi Stone and husband, Mike, Billy Maxwell and wife, Taylor, Clay Maxwell and Lexie Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Braden and Shea King, Joshua, Ricky and John Gonzales, Jett and Jude Baker and Auggi Stone; great-great-grandchild, Ryder McManaman; sister and brother-in-law, Edna and B.T. Davis, of Howe; special friends, Beverly and Jim Lovett, of Huntington, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Hattie Kinnikin; her husband, James Maxwell, and two brothers, Joseph and Edward Kinnikin.
Pallbearers will be Dan Isom, Everett Beaver, Keith Clift, Larry Christman, Dub Sartor and Wade Daniel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Garner Boyd, Robert Daniel, Rick Christman, Charles Gibbs, DeWayne Shores and Royal Williams.
