Winfred Rains, 88, of Scipio, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at his home.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Brumley-Mills Chapel in McAlester with Randy Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Hugh Low Cemetery in Scipio.
Winfred was born on Oct. 28, 1929, in St. Louis, to Thomas Jefferson and Lilly Margaret (Clure) Rains. He married Jo Ann Lee on Dec. 27, 1953, in Ada.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Winfred pastored many churches but loved the Northwest where he pastored a church in Prospect, Oregon. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Northwest. After his retirement, he moved back to Scipio where he enjoyed farming.
Survivors include one son, Steven Rains, of Scipio; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Edward Freer, of Clarksville, Tennessee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and a son-in-law, Randy Chapman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Rains; his parents; son, Thomas Rains; daughter, Christie Chapman; three brothers; two sisters, and a granddaughter, Tammy Rains.
Pallbearers will be Michael Freer, Matthew Freer, Bill Martin, Phil Martin, Randy Martin and Mark Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Murren and D.L. McAfee.
