Wilma Edwards, 81, of McAlester, Oklahoma, died Saturday, December 9th, 2017.
The family will greet friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bishop Funeral Service.
A funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by the Rev. Cliff House and the Rev. Bart Patterson with burial at Pryor Cemetery, Stuart. Pallbearers will be Coy Harrington, Jimmy Lenox, Tom Lenox, Glenn Colley, Terry Colley, Kent Colley, Mike Dunn and Randy Dunn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don Jackson, Don Dunn, Dewey Wimberly, Dr. Kenneth Miller and Gary Crawley. Wilma was born June 5, 1936, in Ward Springs, Oklahoma, to George Washington and Zella (Hawkins) Dunn. She attended grade school in Ward Springs and graduated from Ashland High School. She married Wayne Edwards on October 27, 1954, in Ward Springs. Wilma was a homemaker, as well as a substitute school teacher and worked for a short time at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant. She and Wayne were lifelong members of the Friendship Nazarene Church. She made dolls and was a
wonderful cook. Wilma loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wilma was survived by her husband, Wayne Edwards of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony W. and DeVonna Edwards of McAlester, Bobby and Molly Edwards of Stillwater; eight grandchildren, Amanda Morris, Kristi Edwards, Ashley Edwards, Travis Edwards, Jonathan Edwards, Samantha Smith, Tony James Edwards and Robert Edwards; three great-grandchildren, Raegan Morris, Addison Woods and Isadore Smith; two sisters, Willa Dean Colley and Irene Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Thomas (Tommy) Edwards; two sisters, Hazel Lenox & Ruth Harrington; four brothers, Vernon (Shot) Dunn, Jim Dunn, Aubrey Dunn and Autry (Bud) Dunn.
