Violet Viola (James) Wood, 86, of Blanco, Oklahoma died May 22, 2017, at her residence.
Family will greet friends Noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Brushy Missionary Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.
Funeral Service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the Brushy Missionary Baptist Church officiated by Luke Battiest. Burial will follow at Brushy Cemetery, Blanco.
Pallbearers will be: Jerry Wood, Jr., Christopher Wood, Michael Wood, Freddie Wood, Ryan Rickard and Tyler Black.
Honorary pallbearer will be: Danny Farris
Violet was born to Jackson and Lena (Kemp) James on November 14, 1930, in Blanco, Okalahoma. She married Orval Ellis "Pete" Wood August 28, 1954, in Savanna, Oklahoma. They moved to Denison, Texas for several years where she worked as a seamstress and returned to Blanco in 1983 after retirement. She was a member of the Brushy Missionary Baptist Church.
Survived by: sons: Jerry Wood and wife, Cheryl, of Sherman, Texas, Gary Wood and wife, Tamera, of Denison, Texas; grandchildren: Christopher Wood and Kelsey Curtis of Denison, Texas, Tara Black and husband, Tyler, of Calera, Oklahoma, Jerry Wood, Jr. of Sherman, Texas, Valerie Farris and husband, Danny, of Sherman, Texas; three great-grandchildren: Shameka Shannon, Kathan Shannon and Hollie Wood; sister-in-law, Alberta Wood; brothers-in-law, Brady Wood and wife, Shirley, Dave Wood; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends as well as her beloved pet dog "Barney".
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Jackson and Lena James; husband, Orval Ellis "Pete" Wood in 2002; sister, Geneva (James) Ellis; brothers: Jacob James and George James, Sr.
Arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
