Thomas William "Tommy" Bond, 83, of Kirtland, New Mexico, formerly of McAlester, died Monday, May, 15, 2017, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Tommy was born on April 25, 1934, in McAlester, to Clark Haywood Bond and Julia Lee Berry Bond. He graduated from McAlester High School in the Class of 1952. His mother later married William "Bill" Fleck on July 3, 1951.
While in high school, he started working at Jenks' service station. He married Rose Lee Armstrong on July 6, 1952. He then started work at First National Bank as a teller. He worked at First National Bank until 1976, where he was a vice president and assistant trust officer.
In 1976, he left McAlester and moved to Farmington, New Mexico, and went to work at First National Bank of Farmington. He married Catherine Foutz Prince on March 7, 1980, in Kirtland, New Mexico. He retired from First National Bank of Farmington as an executive vice president and trust officer.
He retired from the United States Army Reserve.
He was a member of Kirtland Ward of Jesus Christ of Lattera-day Saints.
He enjoyed playing golf, reading, hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of McAlester Lodge #96 and a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner.
Tommy is survived by two daughters, Denise Cantrell, of McAlester, Oklahoma, and Debbie Bond, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two grandchildren, Charity Clayton and husband, Jamie, of McAlester, Oklahoma, and Tommy Cantrell Jr. and Robyn Garduno, of Albuquerque New Mexico; five great-grandchildren, Michael Cantrell and wife, Kailey, of Austin, Texas, Ashley Staton and husband, Lloyd, of McAlester, Oklahoma, and Christopher Botts and wife, Ivana, of Stringtown, Oklahoma, and Adriana Vialpando, and Erika Montoya, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nine great-great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Cantrell, Chloe Staton, Braxton Staton, and Karleigh Staton, Timberleigh Botts, Thomas Hensley and Zeana Rose Botts, and River and Ryker; the mother of his children, Rose Lee Bond, of McAlester, Oklahoma; several step-children and step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Clark Haywood Bond, on Nov. 17, 1990; his mother, Julia Fleck, on Oct. 25, 2014; his second wife, Catherine Bond, on April 25, 2006, and numerous aunts and uncles.
There will be a live feed of the funeral at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester, at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 22.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 22, at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Chapel. Burial will be at Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home of Farmington, New Mexico.
