Ruby (Adkins-Simmons) Blevins, 96, of McAlester, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at a local nursing center.
Graveside funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m. at Ash Creek Cemetery pavilion. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Ruby was born on May 22, 1921, in Louisiana, to Nathan Lester and Annie Lucenda (Wallace) Smith. She moved to McAlester in 1949 from Idabel.
She worked as a supervisor and material spreader at Komars for 32 years.
She was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Ruby is survived by her children, Barbara Jean Dedmon, Janet Carol Leonard and husband, Ronnie, and David Lester Adkins; a son-in-law, David Haney; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Adkins; a sister, Wanda Fox, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Ruby was married three times, and was preceded in death by all three, Claude Adkins, Arthur Simmons and Herbert Blevins. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Roy Lee Adkins and Jerry Dale Adkins; a daughter, Lucille Haney; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers and one sister.
