Rogers Johnston, 83 of McAlester died Sunday October 22, 2017 at a local nursing center.
A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Dr. Matt Judkins. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, McAlester.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Dick Johnston, Jr. and Charles Johnston.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
Rogers was born May 7, 1934 to Dick and Juanita Johnston at Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He graduated from the University of Arkansas. Rogers married Linda Lehnhard November 26, 1965 at the McAlester First Presbyterian Church. Rogers owned and operated the Lehnhard-Johnston Ranch and the Timbers Rentals with his wife Linda. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, Pittsburg County Cattlemen's Association, Oklahoma Polled Hereford Association and the National Hereford Association. Rogers enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and rebuilding cars.
Rogers is survived by a son, Andrew Johnston; daughter, Elizabeth Morgan and husband, Joel; grandchildren, Payden Morgan and Jackson Morgan all of McAlester; brothers: Dick Johnston, Jr. and wife, Gay Nell of Phoenix, Arizona, Charles Johnston and wife, Sybile of Wooster, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mary Nell Lehnhard and nephew, Andrew Baker Lehnhard both of Washington, D.C. numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother -in-law: Jack and Nell Lehnhard and his wife Linda November 6, 2016.
