Robert Edward Butzer


Robert Edward Butzer, 94, of Indianola, died on Thursday, April 11, 2019, in McAlester.
The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at Bishop Funeral Service.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, at Bishop Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow at Choate Prairie Cemetery in Indianola.
Pallbearers will be Brent Fassio, Chris Fassio, Matthew Butzer, Boyd Cable, Ronny Riley and David Nickell.
Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Nickell.
Robert was born on November 16, 1924, to Edward Robert and Lora (Engle) Butzer in Muskegon, Michigan.
He graduated from Montague High School in Montague, Michigan, and then attended Michigan State University.
He worked on a dairy farm, and sold tractors and tractor parts when he was young. He was a life- long farmer and owned and operated farms in Montague, Michigan, Homer, Michigan, Columbia City, Florida, Panola, and Indianola. He grew soybeans, corn, wheat, and milo, among other crops.
He was a member of the Humanity Lodge No. 29 Michigan Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge and Wilburton Lodge No. 141. He received his 50 year pin in 2002 and served as a mason for over 66 years.
He was an avid country and western dancer and loved dancing the two-step with his partner, Millie.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lora Butzer; wife, Audrey Butzer; step-son, Frank Buccini; grandson, Jesse Buccini, and an infant sister.
Robert is survived by his partner of over 20 years, Mildred Pummill, of the home, and her daughter, Kay Lynn Avritt; son, David Butzer, of North Muskegon, Michigan; daughters, Judy Touzell and husband, Tom, of West Olive, Michigan, Barbara Zang and husband, Gary, of Spring Lake, Michigan, and Denise Hunt, of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren, Dathan Zang, Lance Tober, Derek Tober, Lacey Tober, Matthew Butzer, Chris Fassio, Marcia Fassio, Brent Fassio, Amanda Coxsey, Kerri Hunt, Christine Riley, and Norman Buccini; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Lee Butzer, of Homer, Michigan, and numerous other family members and friends.

Dear Millie, I have enjoyed the friendship with you and Bob over our dancing years Kenneth and I loved both of you dearly . Being close to you dancing and have fun with you two will forever be dear to my heart. With love and condolences , prayers always I wish you well . Bob will be missed.
