Robert "Bob"'s Story
Robert "Bob" Dean Wood, of McAlester, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at his home, at the age of 70.
Robert was born on Dec. 18, 1947, in Atoka, to Robert Wood and Octavia (Evans) Wood.
He served eight years as an Oklahoma National Guard.
He was a mechanic by trade and worked many years at McAlester Scrap Corp.
Robert was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Myrtle (Dillishaw) Lott Wood, of the home; children, Donna Wells and Benny Wells, of Missouri, Bobby Wood and Terry Tannehill, of McAlester, Sharon Riley and Charles Riley, of Wet Prairie, Jerrie Wood and Billy Williamson, of McAlester, and Lesley Wood and Alicia Birchfield, of McAlester; two step-children, John Lott and Barbara Lott, of Allen, and Anna Maner and Bobby Maner, of West Columbia, South Carolina; grandchildren, Ruby and Rachel Boatner, Michael and Robert Shrum, Melanie Clark, Dewayne Justice, Samantha Lott, Jessica Ranallo, Octavia Kious, Stacy and Charlie Riley, Kylee Tannehill, Nicholas Adams, Zoey, Bel-Ami and William Williamson, Marissa, Donna Diane, Jeana Dawn, Kimberly, Michael Dale, Noah, and Colby Lott, Melayna Barnett, Amanda, Bobby and Megan Maner, Keegan, Kynley, Kimber, Stormie and Kadence Wood; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Chandler and husband, Louis, of Durant, and Marilyn Wood-Brewster, of Fort Worth, Texas; lifelong friend, Eddy Maxey, and, several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Octavia Wood; brother, Devin Wood, and an infant sister.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Chaney's Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at North Town Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Justice, Lesley Wood, Curtiss Lott, Michael Shrum, Robert Shrum and Charles Riley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Tannehill and Eddy Maxey.
