Richie Adams, of Kiowa, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, in McAlester, at the age of 81.
Richie was born on June 20, 1936, in Mathews, Virginia, to Roger W. Callis and Ava Frances (Trusch) Callis.
She married Paul E. Adams Sr. on Oct. 31, 1964. Soon after, Paul began working for the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant and they made Kiowa their home.
Richie was a devoted housewife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, cooking and gardening.
She is survived by her daughters, Paula Maness, of McAlester, and Renee Stoops and husband, Richard, of Mathews, Virginia; son, Paul Adams Jr. and Brandy Nelson, of Kiowa; grandchildren, Tammy Tacey and husband, Matt, of Richmond, Virginia, Vanessa Crook and husband, Justin, of Austin, Texas, and Richard Stoops III, of Mathews, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Raylee Crook and Luke Crook, both of Austin Texas; sister, Norma Jean Soles and husband, Danny, of Virginia; brother, Donnie Callis and wife, Beverly, of Louisiana, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Richie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Adams Sr., in 2010; parents, Roger and Ava Callis; brother, Harold Callis, and sister, Arlene Adams.
The funeral service was Saturday, Nov. 25, at Chaney's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Richard Crook officiating. Interment followed at Savanna Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mark Johnson, Trent Doyle, Gary Hall, Ricky Lott, Marvin Sweetin and Greg Mackey.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Hall, Doy Adams, Scott Hall, Shane Adams, Larry Gill, Kenny Sweetin, Randy Adams, Henry Lee Hall and Bob Ramey.
