Ramona's Story

Ramona F. (Silsbee) Dawkins, 73, of McAlester, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, in Muskogee.
Ramona was born to Aurthor Douglas and Ruth Helen (Morris) Silsbee on Sept. 13, 1943, in Marin, California. She graduated from McAlester High School in 1961.
She married Bennie Dawkins in 1970 in Poteau. Ramona worked as a cashier for several area businesses including Night Time Video and Wal-Mart.
Ramona enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening. She also enjoyed raising her sons and always had a houseful of kids.
Ramona is survived by her husband, Bennie, of the home; sons, Michael Weiher and wife, Charity, of Bentonville, Arkansas, David Weiher and wife, Sabrina, of Scipio, Michael Dawkins and wife, Iva, of McAlester, and Bryon Dawkins, of Udall, Kansas; a brother, Donald Silsbee and wife, Lea, of Brennan, Washington; sisters-in-law, Reba Long and husband, Bob, of Oklahoma City, and June Bennett, of McAlester, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aurthor and Ruth Silsbee.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 2, at Bishop Funeral Service. Cremation will follow. Arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory of McAlester.
