Phillip R. Arnold, 71, of Haileyville, died Monday, January 22, 2018.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 27, at 1st Assembly of God Church in McAlester. The Rev. Jerry Burnside and Chaplain Kerry Kirkhart will be the officiants. Arrangements under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
Phillip was born on December 25, 1946, in McAlester, to his parents Leonard H. and Wilma V. (Murphy) Arnold. He was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from N.W. Classen High School.
He served in the United States Army During the Vietnam War.
After his service time, he began working at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant as a security guard. He then entered law enforcement, served as a Pittsburg County Reserve Officer, was CLEET certified in 1991, was a Latimer County undersheriff. He also served as chief of police for Quinton and assistant chief of Haileyville.
He was married to Marty Newcomb on August 13, 1993, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Survivors are his wife, Marty, of the home; daughter, Leslie and husband, Brian Kilbert, of Denton, Texas; son, Lenny and wife, Christy Harding, of Spencer; grandchildren, Joey, Trinity and Michael Kilbert, and Jacob and John Harding; great-grandson, Tyler Harding, and neice, Stephanie Parker-Sales, of Choctaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Mary and Naomi.
