Peggy Lee Phifer Graveside services for Peggy Lee (McClain) Phifer, 91, of Lula, are 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Savanna Cemetery. The Rev. Ed Rutherford will officiate.
Mrs. Phifer passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019, in Ada. She was born on March 19, 1927, in Stigler, to Jim and Beulah Weir McClain. Mrs. Phifer moved to the Ada area in 1998 from Indianola.
She married Robert E. "Cob" Phifer on July 26, 1952, in DeQueen, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1990, in McAlester.
Mrs. Phifer worked as a nurse's aide for a number of years. After retiring, she was a babysitter for several years and she was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Savanna.
Granny enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports, show their pigs at stock shows and she loved to attend church.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandy Ward and her husband, Bucky, of Lula; a son, Jim Steel and wife, Darlene, of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a brother, Jerry McClain and wife, Helen, of Savanna; her grandchildren, Tammy Ward, Linsey (Ward) Williams, Robert Steel, Randall Steel, T.J. Steel, and Michael Steel; her great-grandchildren, Dillon and Bryar Blessing, and Tyler Williams, and numerous other great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
