Orvel Lee Romine, 84, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Muskogee.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick and the Rev. Charlie Murphy officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons, grandsons-in-law and great-grandsons.
Orvel was born on March 23, 1933, in Cement, to Thomas Eubanks and Minnie Deora Rhynes Romine. He married Betty Jean Southard on July 26,1954.
He served with the 3rd Infantry Division the 15th Infantry Regiment in the United States Army.
He was a Free Will Baptist minister and pastored at numerous churches before his retirement.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He loved to take his family out to eat, to listen to old southern gospel songs and making a garden.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Randy Higgins, of McAlester, Annette and Lonny Reed, of Arapaho, and Marilyn and Acie O'Kelley Jr., of Ardmore; four grandchildren, Amy and Denny Dodson, of McAlester, Banks and Jennie O'Kelley, of Sulphur, William and Megan Higgins, of McAlester, and Andi and Shane Munsey, of Clinton; two grandsons, Acie O'Kelley III, of Ardmore, and Ben Reed, of Arapaho, and eight great-grandchildren, Aaron Dodson, Ryan Dodson, Avery Higgins, Clark Higgins, Brady Higgins, Avelyn Munsey, Maddox Munsey and Cadence O'Kelley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Myrtle Romine, Hazel Ballard, Claudia Ferguson, and Jesse Tindall, and brothers, Jack Romine, Henry Romine, George Romine, Raymond Romine and Thomas Romine.
