Nina Grubbs Williams, 91, of McAlester, passed away February 4, 2018, in McAlester.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 8, at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. J.T. Carnell officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery.
Nina was born to Frank and Osie Grubbs in Chambers, on January 5, 1927. She graduated from Savanna High School and obtained a bachelors degree in education and a masters in guidance counseling from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Nina spent 40 years as an educator in Oklahoma. She taught home economics at Savanna, Stigler and McAlester public schools. She was the high school guidance counselor at McAlester until her retirement.
Nina will be remembered for her many talents including sewing, quilting and especially her cooking. She was a social butterfly and enjoyed family, friends, travel and an occasional casino trip.
She was a member of the Choctaw Indian Tribe.
Nina was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Othal; son, Daniel; brothers, Burl, Curtis, Rod and Kirk,and sisters, Vivian, Veda and Marie.
Nina is survived by her daughter, Deborah and husband, John Searle, of Oklahoma City; grandson, Travis Searle and Lisa Foster, of Louisville, Kentucky; granddaughter, Elizabeth and Eric Rogers, of Edmond; great-grandson, Michael Rogers, of Edmond; sister, Joy Dillon and husband, Richard, of Miles, Texas; brother, Frank Grubbs and wife, Moiselle, of Moore, and many nieces and nephews.
