Mona Lee Gilley, 87, of McAlester, died on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, in Tulsa.
Mona Lee was born on Sept. 8, 1929, in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, to Burrell and Alice (Hunter) Curry. She grew up in Lansford and Kingston, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from high school.
She moved with her parents to McAlester and obtained an associate degree in home economics from Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton.
She worked as a professional seamstress for several years before becoming a homemaker upon marrying Carl Dean Gilley in 1961. After marrying, she still maintained her seamstress skills as a loving mother who made numerous family clothing items.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her younger sister, Carol Ann Barnes, of Norman, and her eldest son, Scott Dean Gilley, of Huntsville, Alabama. Her grandchildren include Michael Leone Gilley and Patrick Dean Gilley.
Mona Lee was preceded in death by an infant son, and her parents, Burrell and Alice (Hunter) Curry.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Bishop Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery in McAlester.
