Michael Roy Price, 63, of McAlester, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at his home.
Mike was born June 21, 1953, in Blocker, to Troy and Elvetta (Howell) Price. Mike managed the McAlester Sonic for over 30 years where he was able to have a positive impact on the area youth. Besides monetary sponsorship of many youth athletic teams, Mike participated with the Boys and Girls Club as a coach for his daughter's softball teams and also enjoyed many years as a football referee. His volunteer referee time spanned from weeknights for junior high, junior varsity and high school and on Saturdays with the little league teams.
Mike was a positive person and never met a stranger. His grandchildren were his biggest joy in life.
He is survived by his daughter, Amber Pinkney and son-in-law, John Pinkney, of McAlester; grandchildren, Anthony Pinkney and Angel Pinkney; brothers, Kenneth Price and wife, Phyllis, of Tulsa, Bobby Price and wife, Debi, of McAlester, and Dale Price, of McAlester; sister, Carolyn Hearod and husband, Bill, of McAlester; sister-in-law, Sharon Price, of Oklahoma City, and other family and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Troy Price; mother, Elvetta (Howell) Price, and brother, Roney Price.
A family directed memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Apostolics of McAlester Church, 300 East Carl Albert Parkway. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory of McAlester.
