Matthew David McCauley, 58, of McAlester, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at his residence.
Matthew was born to Dr. Joe W. and Audrey McCauley on Feb. 11, 1958, in Kennett, Missouri. Matthew graduated from McAlester High School in 1976. Matthew received the achievement of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He then attended East Central University and studied ultrasound at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences College of Allied Health. Matthew worked as an ultrasound technologist at Shawnee and also worked as a traveling ultrasound technologist.
Matthew enjoyed water skiing, playing tennis and watching OU football and other sporting events. Matthew loved to cook and later attended culinary arts school.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of McAlester.
Matthew is survived by his mother, Audrey McCauley, of the home; brother, Dr. Jon McCauley and wife, Debbie, of McAlester; sister, Karen McCauley, of Tulsa; nieces, Melissa McCauley, of Oklahoma City, and Kati Vaughn and husband, Cory, of McAlester; nephew, Kyle McCauley, of McAlester, and great-nephews, Gunnar Vaughn, of McAlester, and Ashton McCauley, of Oklahoma City; great-niece, Saylor Vaughn, of McAlester, sister-in-law, Sharon McCauley, of Oklahoma City; aunts, Shirley Thornburgh, of Bartlesville, and Frankie McCauley, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, and other family members and friends.
Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Joe W. McCauley; brothers, Joe McCauley Jr. and Mark S. McCauley, and niece, Lauren McCauley.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at First United Methodist Church, 13th Street and McArthur Lane, officiated by Dr. Matt Judkins. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Jon McCauley, Dr. Wiliam McCauley, Kyle McCauley, Chris Marino, Fred Ettner and Larry Auld.
