Marvin Dalton Goodson


Marvin Dalton Goodson, 87, of Krebs, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Bishop Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 3, at Dow Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory of McAlester,
He was born on June 26, 1931, to Haskell and Rachel Goodson, in Bache. He graduated from Haileyville High School in 1950. He attended Oklahoma State University from 1950 to 1954. While at OSU, he got his first experience as a radio announcer and DJ at KVRO, and continued his work as an announcer in Oklahoma.
He volunteered for the draft and took training as a radar specialist and air traffic controller in Oahu, Hawaii.
He married Mary Sudduth on April 5, 1958, and moved to Amarillo, Texas. He worked for Montgomery Ward as an electronic manager and Channel 7 TV in Amarillo. They moved back to McAlester in 1965, and worked for Rockwell International for 27 years, retiring in September 1993.
Survivors include his children, Diana See and husband, Ralf, of McAlester, Sherri Clements and husband, Donnie, of Krebs, Mark Goodson and wife, Tracy, of Shawnee, and Earl Padgett, of Krebs; grandchildren, Corey Pitman, Todd Pitman, Heather Morris, Dakota See, Danielle Burchfield, Bradley Padgett, Karen Stubbs, Derek Goodson, Keaton Clements, Cameron Clements, Robin Goodson and Paul Goodson; sisters, Beth Selakovich and Loretta Suter; brother, Fred Goodson; 16 great-grandchildren, and brothers-in-law, Lee Sudduth, Jerry Sudduth and David Sudduth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Rachel Goodson; wife, Mary Goodson; daughters, Carolyn Goodson and Lisa Padgett; brother, Dale Goodson; brothers-in-law, Jack Sudduth, Arville Sudduth and John Lewis; sister-in-law, Pat Coor and husband, H.L. Coor, and sisters-in-law, Marguerite Lackey and Mildred Kelley.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Corey Pitman, Cameron Clements, Todd Pitman, Bradley Padgett, Dakota See, Derek Goodson and Paul Goodson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Clements, Keaton Clcments, David Stubbs, Doug Burchfield and Ralf See.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6525 North Meridian Avenue, Suite 110, Oklahoma City, OK, 73116, in honor of his beloved wife, Mary.
