Martha Jane Tinker

Martha Jane Tinker passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017, in Texas.
She was born on May 21, 1933, in Haileyville, Pittsburg County, to Edna A. Owen and George W. Moody. She attended school in Haileyville and graduated with the Class of 1951.
Martha loved to study American history and music. She became the piano accompanist for the choral group (Glee Club) and played for her church at First Baptist Church of Haileyville.
On Dec. 30, 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Ray Dean Tinker, in Van Buren, Arkansas.
After Ray completed service in the United States Army during the Korean War and was discharged in 1954, she and Ray moved to Pasadena, Texas, where she was employed by Sea-Land Service, container cargo shipping.
In 1966, she and Ray move to Angleton, Texas where she worked for Wayne K. Steele, M.D. and S.K. Reddy, M.D., both local surgeons.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Angleton and participated in the Christmas and Easter productions for many years.
She is survived by two sons, Keith, his wife, Kathy, and granddaughter, Aleah Tinker; Kirk, his wife, Julie, and grandsons, Grant and Grady Tinker; her sister, Mary S. Woodward; nephew, Mike Woodward; niece, Patricia Crowel, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; three children, Georgeanna, Davey Ray and Mark Wayne Tinker; her brother, Perry Moody, and sister, Pearl Wade.
Known as "Granny" by her grandchildren, she was a loving wife, proud mother and grandmother. She will be missed so much.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in Hartshorne.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 7, at Elmwood Cemetery pavilion in Hartshorne. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
