Marilyn Verlon Taylor


Verlon Taylor passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Walnut Grove Living Center in McAlester.
She was born in Henryetta on March 31, 1930, to William and Allene Harmon. She married Robert S. Taylor in 1948. His employment with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company brought them to McAlester in 1954. After her three children graduated McAlester High School, Verlon began a successful 40-year real estate career with Saunier First Realty. Her entire life was centered around her family, children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Justice Steven Taylor and his wife, Mary, of McAlester; her daughter, Carolynn Maffeo and her husband, Bob, of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandson, Bill Maffeo and his wife, Megan, of Baltimore, Maryland; grandson, Wilson Taylor and his wife, Felicia, of Oklahoma City; granddaughter, Taylor Rhoades-Foor and her husband, Gordon Foor, of Norman, and her son-in-law, John Rhoades, of Norman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Taylor, and her daughter, Patricia Ann Rhoades.
There will be a graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester on Thursday at 11 a.m.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, any memorial be sent in her memory to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 N.E. 13th Street, Oklahoma City, OK, 73104.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Taylor was a very sweet lady. I was one of the cna that help assist her at the van buren house. Prayers for the family
